General information

Castles are property objects in Lineage 2. By owning a castle, a clan gain political and economical control over the surrounding territory, including the ability to raise taxes in the subordinate townships. A castle gas certain features similar to those of clan halls, however castles have more features.

By default castle lord has total control over castle and is the only person to rule it; however their can use privilege management to give some rights to other clan members.

Any clan member can use the following castle features:

Access to private/clan warehouse
Buying buffs from the Chamberlain of Light/darkness
Buying items from Chamberlain of Light/Darkness or Court Wizard
Teleportation to different hunting zones via Chamberlain of Light/Darkness
Teleportation to clan leader via Court Wizard
Entrance to Castle instanced zones: Dungeon and Pailaka via Warden
Get a cloak depending on the chosen side: Cloak of Light or Cloak of Darkness

Besides the features mentioned above, the following features are available to castle lords:

Riding a wyvern
Setting the time of castle siege and appoint the defenders

Main castle features

In every castle there's a special NPC who activates different functions for a fee.

At deactivation, castle features are non-refundable. The price and possible values of features of restoration and decoration in castles:

Experts and envoys

Chamberlain of Light/Darkness will help you to place envoys and experts for 7 days. It is free. They give quests for their Factions. If you complete such quests, you'll get Medals required to hire experts. Experts are placed for a certain fee and they offer different abilities. You cannot change the envoy and the experts before the period of 7 days is over. You can hire 1 envoy and 2 experts.

Political cooperation

Castles control the territories they own. Besides townships and castles, there are also Fortresses in the world of Lineage 2. One or two fortresses are located in each territory. Each fortress can choose to be politically involved with, or independent from, the castle(s) in that territory. Fortresses can make contracts with Special Envoy when the siege is over.

When a fortress is in an independent state, it is possible for a castle-owning clan in the same territory to register a siege upon that fortress.
When a fortress becomes contracted, the fortress-owning clan must pay a tax ( 250,000 adena) to the territory's castle every six hours. The taxes are automatically deducted from the Clan Warehouse. If the fortress-owning clan does not have enough Adena in their Clan Warehouse, the state of the fortress automatically switches from contracted to independent.

Castle with a fortress which has made a contract

A clan which has made a contract with a fortress gets access to that castle instanced zones, and is committed to delivering supplies to that fortress,

For every supply item delivery, 35 reputation points will be deducted from the castle-owning clan.
- If the castle-owning clan’s Reputation Points drop below two points, the supply item level will stop increasing and the leader of the fortress-owning clan will be notified by the system message.
- Supply level is increased every 26 hours, the max level is 6.
The clan which owns the castle gets access to castle dungeon and its related quests.
- Access to Castle Dungeon is allowed once per 24 hours, the timer is the same for the whole clan, and it doesn't matter if some clan members haven't been to that dungeon.

Castle with an independent fortress

If a fortress remains independent from the castle, it's impossible to get into castle instanced zones.

Choosing between Light and Darkness

When a siege is over, you can choose a side: Light or Darkness.

Collecting taxes

Only those who own a Castle of Darkness can collect taxes. Additional taxes can be collected by the main Darkness Castle from other Darkness Castles.

Tax system

Only Castles of Darkness can collect taxes.
Taxes are added to the castle treasury every Monday at 12:00.
Aden and Rune get additional taxes from their subordinate castles.
Taxes are deducted from the price of goods bought from trading NPCs on the castle territories.
When any goods are purchased on a Castle of Darkness territory, a tax of 30% is applied. A certain part of Adena is removed from the game, the rest is transferred to castle owners.
The Adena transferred to castle owners is divided into the tax which remains in the castle treasury, and the tax transferred to the main castle.

'Example:'
If you purchase an item in Oren for 1000, the tax is 300. From the sum 120 (40%) is removed from the game, 180 (60%) is transferred to castle owners, from the sum of 180 135 for to treasure of the Oren castle, and 45 goes to treasure of the Aden castle.

Sieges

The castles in the world of Lineage 2 at firstare managed by NPCs. When one of the clans defeats the defenders of a castle and gets it, the clan starts owning that castle. If a castle owning clan is dismissed, the castle goes back to NPCs.

Only castle lords can set up the siege time. To do so, they need to talk to their Chamberlain. Be careful as once the choice is made, it cannot be canceled until the siege is over. In 24 after getting the castle the lord needs to set up the time of the following siege. otherwise the time will be set automatically.

Castle walls cannot be damaged in the period of peace. Only during sieges they can be damaged. Castle sieges occur on Sunday, two weeks after the previous siege. The period of two weeks is the time when the lord and the clan members can fully enjoy the benefits of their property.
