When your Hatchling achieves lvl 55, it can evolve into a Strider if you complete a special quest. You need to talk to Elder Cronos from Hunters Village to learn more.

Your Strider will get the same name as the Hatchling it’s evolved from. After the evolution all characteristics, including XP, fullness level etc. will be reset and changed according to the specifics of the new pet. You cannot roll back the evolution, so, if you've changed your Hatchling, you cannot bring its looks back. Striders, just like Hatchlings, can be summoned anywhere, anytime with its summoning item.

Strider Functions

Like any other pets, Strider can be used as help while hunting different mobs. The way to control it is almost like for any other pet, like for a Wolf or a Hatchling.

Mounting a Strider

The character which has summoned a Strider can use a Mount/Unmount command. When a character is mounted on a Strider, some of their characteristics are changed.

Having mounted a Strider, a character gains its physical attack and its movement speed, other characteristics are unchanged. Remember, if your level is significantly lower than your Strider’s, you will get a penalty. For example, if your character's level is 5+ lvls lower than your Strider's, after mounting you'll get the following penalty: for Phys. Atk. 50% and 5% penalty for each extra level. If your Strider's level is 10+ lvls higher than your character's, your pet's moving speed will be two times lower.

If your Strider’s fullness level is 50% or lower while you’re mounted, you’ll get 50% penalty for moving speed. You’ll also have problems with unmounting.

Strider’s speed depends directly on its level – the higher it is, the quicker your Strider moves.

Restrictions on mounting a Strider

While riding a Strider, your character still can fight, however, you cannot use physical skills, such as special strikes and movements. Your armor also has no effect when you ride a Strider. However, there are no limitations for magic usage. If your character has any healing buffs, curses or auras, they affect your character directly, not its pet. If you open your character’s inventory while mounted, you cannot use your pet’s inventory. All herbs affect your character, not its pet.

A Strider is a great way of travelling. It can replace teleports, besides, using it you can quickly leave a battlefield if the circumstances are against you. Unfortunately, if your character is mounted, they cannot use emoticons, private shops to buy or sell items, they are also forbidden to upgrade items. Moving underwater while mounted on a Strider doesn’t differ from ordinary swimming. You need to come up to the surface before your oxygen bar disappears, or your character starts losing their HP. If a player unsummons a Strider, it goes back to its summoning item. Same thing happens if a player logs out or their server connection is lost. If the master of a Strider is mounted while hunting, the master gets all XP, the pet gets nothing. Striders consume significantly less food when they are mounted.

Death and disappearance of Striders

If a Strider dies during hunting, its death doesn’t differ from other pets’ death. It’ll lie on the place where it’s killed and wait for the resurrection. Remember, if you don’t bring your pet back to life in 24 hours, it’ll disappear forever. If you log out, your Strider’s body will remain in the game, but only you can resurrect the pet once you've come back.

If your character is under attack while mounted, HP points are taken from your character, not from your pet. If your character dies in this scenario, it loses some XP and can teleport to the closest township, while its Strider won’t lose anything. Once resurrected, your character will be mounted again.

Always monitor your Strider’s fullness level, otherwise, when a certain hunger limit is reached, it’ll be automatically unsummoned to the summoning item, even if you’re mounted. Then, when you summon it again, its fullness level will be 0%.
